Still watching the Gulf, but at least I am stitching while doing it ; )

TD #1 is now Tropical Storm Alex.  The five day forcast shows it heading straight toward Mexico.  If it stays on this track, it will hopefully not cause too many problems for the oil spill clean up.  I heard yesterday that oil spill operations could be stopped for up to two weeks due to the storm.

We had family over yesterday, but I did get a little stitching done on another LHN ornament . . .

"Winter Sheep"
Little House Needleworks
Stitched over 2 on 28ct French Country Linen on Cafe Mocha
(recommended fabric Weeks Dye Works 30 ct Straw Linen)
Using the recommended DMC threads
(so far, but I am out of Ecru for the sheep and might do a substitution)

QUESTION OF THE DAY- I am using a "scrap" of linen left over from another project for this ornament.  I am trying to organize my other bits of linen that are too small for large projects to use for more ornaments.  Do you use your scraps this way, or do you always buy the recommended fabric?

TUSAL UPDATE - Notice the blue from "Dogs Leave Paw Prints" and "At Pemberley" and the red from the start of "Winter Sheep"

Enjoy your Sunday!

Updates on (Almost) EVERYTHING (including a very fab giveaway)

TUSAL
Here is my April TUSAL post . . . lots more color in the jar this time around.

Porch Bird

Caught mama bird looking for food for her brood.  Missed the pic of the peeps with their open beaks sticking up above the edge of the nest.  Maybe tomorrow.

I took some baby bird pics, but they were not looking their best today.  I need to put something for perspective near the chicks when I do my next post, just hard to use both hands when standing on a stool and trying to avoid touching the nest.  The babies look large in yesterday's picture, but they were tiny when I saw their heads up during their feeding.

Watching, Stitching & Reading

I am watching the P.D. James Ultimate Collection (all 13 BBC produced series) while I am stitching.  Not really the best choice, since I keep having to go back over sections because I missed something.  I am currently stitching the big heart on the Mother's TLC, so there are no color changes, but I am trying to make sure I end & start the rows correctly.

Just started two new books today . . .
  1. Glazed Murder: A Donut Shop Mystery ("A little sugar never killed anyone")
  2. The Viper's Nest:  A 39 Clues Mystery (These only take me a couple of hours to finish, so they are a quick fun read - I highly recommend for 5th - 8th grade)
Eating

Went out to lunch with my DM and had my favorite:  eggplant pizza and salad.  Then DS & I splurged and ate dinner at Copeland's.  We even ordered dessert to-go -- Bananas Foster Cheesecake.  Since I had a $5 off coupon and we will split the dessert 3 ways, it is a smallish splurge.

TUSAL for March & other odds and ends

TUSAL for March -

The St. Patrick's Parade was held this weekend -- the weather was great! Cabbages, potatoes, carrots, onions and ramen noodles (???) went home with almost everyone. DS stuck to beads & a couple of stuffed footballs.

Looking forward to some corned beef and cabbage on Wednesday and stuffed artichokes and spagehetti and meatballs (or lasagna) on Friday. CORRECTION: Must save the meatballs for Saturday or make veggie lasagna on Friday.
No time for stitching this weekend . . . it is spring cleaning time!

Don't forget to enter my giveaway (if you haven't already).
